The Black Alumni Reunion, the largest affinity group of University North Carolina Chapel Hill’s General Alumni Association, will once again meet in Chapel Hill, Sept. 29 – Oct. 2, 2022, at Sheraton Chapel Hill during a weekend in which UNC plays Virginia Tech
“This is NOT Carolina’s Homecoming Weekend because BAR was moved to an earlier weekend due to lack of hotel availability,” said their Board’s Vice Chair, Phillip McAlpin.
The awards gala will be on Thursday (Sept. 30, 2022) instead of Friday.
“We are planning for a full-scheduled, in-person reunion this year and our team is hard at work on creative events and activities to be enjoyed by the many who have consistently attended BAR and attract those who might not have attended regularly, if at all.”
McAlpin said there will be several events taking place in downtown Chapel Hill and the Board is hard already working with town leaders, restaurants and public meeting facilities to accommodate the more than 300 members who will attend the 2022 live conference. “We are also looking for good representation from all classes from our Black Pioneers to our recently minted alumni from the class of 2022.”
